STructured LIteracy teacher training

This 45-hour Structured Literacy training is aligned with the International Dyslexia Association’s (IDA) Knowledge and Practice Standards and prepares you to teach all aspects of reading and writing. The training emphasizes explicit, systematic, and cumulative instruction informed by linguistics, cognitive science, and education research, ensuring you understand not just what to teach, but why.

Trainees will learn to integrate phonology, sound–symbol correspondence, syllable instruction, morphology, syntax, and semantics into daily instruction, using ongoing assessment to guide responsive teaching. This training supports strong core instruction that benefits all learners while reducing risk for reading difficulties through informed, intentional, and evidence-based practice.

After fulfilling all requirements, each participant will receive a certificate of completion for the training hours.

Trainees may continue their Structured Literacy learning by choosing one of the following:

1) Taking the 'Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction' (KPEERI) and applying to the Center for Effective Reading Instruction at the Classroom Teacher level.

2) Continue their training by taking the Structured Literacy Interventionist hours.
