What is Structured Literacy training?
Structured Literacy training prepares educators to teach literacy skills using instruction aligned with the science of reading. It emphasizes explicit, systematic instruction in reading and writing. It is designed for use in general education, intervention, and specialized settings. Structured Literacy takes into account ‘who’ you are teaching, ‘what’ you are teaching and ‘how’ you are teaching the content. Instruction is a data-driven process to support student learning.
Who provides the credentials?
The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) is an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and provides certificates for Classroom Teacher, Dyslexia Interventionist and Dyslexia Specialist.

What is Orton-Gillingham training?
Orton-Gillingham training prepares educators to deliver instruction using the Orton-Gillingham Approach—a diagnostic, prescriptive, and individualized method originally designed for students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences and is now used in the general classroom setting. OG training focuses on applying structured literacy principles through highly individualized lesson design for a class, group or student.
Who provides the credentials?
The Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA) has membership levels for Classroom Educator (general education setting) and the Associate Level (1:1 intervention for students with dyslexia).
